Michelle discovered her love for jazz as a freshman in college, while enrolled in the NYU Jazz Vocal Workshop. She studied there with veteran jazz composer, producer, performer Anne Phillips. Michelle has remained a student of Phillips and the two have worked closely to develop a vibrant repertoire.
Upon graduating from NYU, Michelle began working in hotels, clubs and lounges doing extensive work as a duo with New York's top guitarists including Gene Bertoncini, Paul Meyers, Howard Alden, Roni Ben Hur and Joe Cohn. This is where she began to develop her personal style.
Anne collaborated as producer on Michelle's debut CD "Across A Crowded Room" which features musicians Steve La Spina, Rich De Rosa, Paul Meyers and Adam Asarnow. Michelle conceived of original arrangements of "Some Enchanted Evening," "The Sweetest Sounds," "It Ain't Necessarily So" and "Hum Drum Blues" and other standards featured on the CD.
